Hamilton Chapter

Who We Are

Our Philosophy

We are dedicated to "Catch and Release", conservation, and education regarding proper handling techniques. Fishing for this predatory giant is a part of our cultural heritage, and is done so with great passion and enthusiasm.

Our Membership

Included in our group are dedicated muskie fishermen from the seasoned veteran to the inexperienced novice angler. All are welcome, and part of our goal is to pass on our knowledge and experiences to those who share a common interest in Muskellunge fishing and habitat.

Range

Situated in close proximity to the Niagara Peninsula many would assume the Niagara River/Lake Erie fishery to be our home waters. This is somewhat true, however, we have a large contingency of dedicated anglers who test the waters of the Kawarthas, Southern, and Northern Georgian Bay, Ottawa River, and Nipising/French River watershed.

Special Projects
Muskies Canada has a close working relationship with the O.M.N.R., and the majority of our projects are in support, and in partnership with the Ministry. Support is provided both financially and in volunteer hours when called upon. The first hand knowledge gained from spending a day on the O.M.N.R. boat is not one soon forgotten or paralleled. Imagine trap netting a 50" plus Muskellunge during a Spawning Survey, and releasing this magnificent fish back to the wild.

The Hamilton Chapter has donated nearly $10,000 to the Lake Simcoe Muskellunge Restoration Project (LSMRP) The LSMRP is a joint venture between the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resourses, Muskies Canada and Sir Sandford Flemming College to reintroduce a self-sustaining Muskie population to Lake Simcoe.
