June 20thOttawa - 2015 Kahuna Cup

Hi, everyone. It's that time of year again. We're inviting everyone to get out and fish on opening Saturday on the Ottawa, June 20. To make it fun, we hold a Chapter Fishing Day at my place on the Ottawa River in Papineauville, near Montebello, Qc. It's a great way to see what's happening on the Ottawa as a pre-fish for the big Ottawa Outing on the following weekend.

It's simple. Launch anywhere in the area (Wendover - Treadwell - Lafaivre) and come on over by boat to my place at noon for lunch. We'll have the BBQ going with burgers and dogs, and Bob Wight is bringing some of his famous chilli. We will also have a prize table. Cost is $20.00 per person including lunch. Everything left over after costs goes to the Ottawa Chapter as a fundraiser.

It's fun. What a nice way to start the season with a social event and have a chance to mix and mingle with the Ottawa gang. There are always jokes, stories and helpful tips about what's happening on the water. We also like to organize some mentoring for new members to get them out on the water with a member that can help them get started.

We also make it a fun little competition. Every year there are some BIG fish caught. Everyone posts their release results and photos on this Forum so we can find out who gets their name on the Kahuna Cup.

Saturday, June 20. Don't miss it.

Please let us know if you're coming so we can be sure to have enough food.
June 27thOttawa - 2015 Capital City Challunge

Mark your calendars for June 27th, 2015. The Capital City Challunge is coming up quickly. It's going to be another great Ottawa Chapter Outing. Come out and join us for a day of awesome fishing, great food and a huge prize table and help support the projects our chapter is working on.

For those folks that attended last years event it's pretty much dejavu. Hopefully we have as many people attend this year.

Fishing from sunrise to 5:30pm, lower Ottawa River from Parliment to Hawkesbury. Banquet at the Orleans Legion upstairs at 6:30 sharp. 1/4 BBQ Chicken and 1/2 rack of BBQ Ribs with all the fixings, desert and coffee.

Outing and dinner is $50 per person and includes a ticket for the Handlebarz Bump Board Door Prize! Register at the dinner or prior with Jarrett Carter.

So far we have over $1000 worth of prizes for the raffle table and expect to have well over $2000 by the time the outing rolls around.

Contact Jarrett Carter to register or for more information. We will need to get a head count for the meal so please let us know soon if you plan to attend.

The Kawartha Classic

September 16th to the 18th 2011

The Kawartha Chapter would like to invite you to a weekend of fishing, friends and fun at Balsam Resort www.balsamresort.com in Rosedale Ontario. The resort can handle up to 80 people, however for those who are interested we can provide motel and campground information which is close by. The cost for the room will be $125.00 per person for the weekend

In keeping with the fact that we are the Kawartha Chapter of MCI we felt that it was time to move from Stony Lake to Balsam Lake. There is plenty of Muskie in this lake and the chances of catching a beautiful Hybrid are also in order.

Unlike Stony Lake, Balsam Lake is a wide open lake (not as many small islands). Yet there is plenty of structure for those who wish to cast to the shore and weed edges, but it is also easy to follow a trolling pattern.

The weekend will start at 7:30pm with a meet and greet walleye fish fry (as long as the fish lasts) on the Friday night around a campfire while everyone checks in and registers.
Fishing will start Saturday morning at 7:00am and finish at 4:00 pm. Outing cost is $40.00 per person and will include a Kawartha Classic Boat Towel.

Cowboy steaks

Desserts
Following dinner will be a huge prize table with the usual generous amount of big ticket items.
