The River Haven Resort who offered excellent facilities supplied the accommodations. We had forty people attend, approximately 20-25 boats, River Haven Resort lodge owners really did a good job in taking care of us. They always offer Muskies Canada Members a 15% off on camping and accommodations and free docking and launching. Looks like we found next years outing location!
The weather conditions started off clear with a westerly breeze, which produced some nice hits and a few boats landed some early morning Muskies 32"-35". Well the McCutcheon Brothers (Mike, T.O chapter and Tom from Kawatha chapter) who required some extra sleep due to an very busy Labatts schedule, hit the water late and their strategy paid off Tom pulled in a beautiful 48" muskellunge¬Ö. practically assuring them selves 1st place.
Well the day progressed weather conditions changed with some minor rain showers and the wind eased, our boat managed to have numerous follows and one roll over on a lure but I digress no luck. John Silvestri landed a very cool 44" blue pike, John Milotic and Rob Murakami both landed fish.
Well the day of fishing was coming to an end, when our friend from Kitchener-Waterloo chapter, Tim Holley hooked up on a fish of a lifetime 53.5" beautiful lunge he, measured her up and released it back to the waters of the Magnetewan winning the tournament. (Mike and Tom were robbed, second place, isn't to bad)
That evening, the Mississauga chapter had a great dinner and prize table with a generous selection of lures, HP Digital Camera, St. Croix, Okuma rods and reel, two day stay at the West Arm and one BBQ. Plus our friends at Hose Baits who generously supplied us one of their handcrafted musky bates.
Hope that everyone who attended had a great time and found the outing to be fun and worth your time away from your families on fathers day, we'll see you all back at next years outing.
