Lake Simcoe Muskie Restoration Project Wins Top Canadian Fishing Industry Conservation Project AwardMarch 1 2011

The Spring Fishing and Boat Show and Andy Pallotta have established a new award for the top Canadian fishing industry conservation project. The winner is determined by a vote of the members of the Canadian Fishing Hall of fame.

The first winner of this new award is Muskies Canada's Lake Simcoe Muskie Restoration Project. We were presented with a plaque and cheque for $1,000 at a fishing industry breakfast on February 18, 2011. After receiving our award, we then presented a plaque to Bob Izumi to express our thanks to him for his Fishing Forever Foundation's generous financial support for the project.

The Lake Simcoe Project is a multi-year project to reintroduce muskellunge into its native waters in Lake Simcoe after an absence of about 30 years. The Project is headed by Dave Boxall, the Project Manager, who was unable to be at the award presentation ceremony. The Project is led by Dave Boxall, Jim Kelly and Ian Young of Muskies Canada and Jason Borwick and Brad Allan of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Our partners on this Project include the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Sir Sandford Fleming College, Muskies Inc., Canadian Sportsmen's Shows, Bob Izumi's Fishing Forever Foundation, Georgian Bay Hunters and Anglers, and the Spring Fishing and Boat Show.
